From the threaded valve 101 in DN 10 to the flanged and welded versions in DN 500.

PN 10 to PN 40

Threaded and welded series in PN 40, the flanged series 103 in PN 10, 16, 25 and 40.

Operating range of all series; the lowest permissible ambient temperature is -40 °C.

Leakage rate A to EN 12266-1

All four series are tested to leakage rate A – the tightest value the standard defines.

Weld end, thread or flange – the actual decision

All four series are technically identical in construction; they differ in the connection type, and that follows the installation situation:

  • Weld end (100X/S and 104): a fully welded connection has no detachable joint that can age or start to leak. That is why buried district heating pipes are built this way.
  • Female thread (101): for service connections and secondary lines up to DN 50, where the valve must remain removable.
  • Flange (103/25): where the valve is to be replaced in a chamber or a station without cutting the pipe open.

What “reduced bore” means

All the series named have a reduced bore: the ball bore is smaller than the nominal size – on the type 101 in DN 50 about 40 mm. This reduces weight, space requirement and price and is uncritical in district heating networks, because these are dimensioned with reserve anyway. It does need checking where the pressure loss has been calculated tightly – in that case a full-bore version is the right choice.

A limit that comes before the selection

The series 100 to 104 are not approved for steam. They are designed for water and heating water, with an operating range from −20 °C to +200 °C; the lowest permissible ambient temperature is −40 °C. For steam applications Vexve offers other series – talk to us about it before you size the system.

Optional: adaptations to Vexve ball valves

With Vexve we mostly supply the series version without intervention. Additionally feasible with Vexve:

  • connection type to suit the installation situation – weld end, thread or flange
  • pressure rating of the flanged series from PN 10 to PN 40
  • operation with manual gearbox, electric or hydraulic actuator from DN 300
  • assembly with drain, vent and chamber accessories
