With spiral wound and kammprofile gaskets it is not the metal core but the soft material that sets the limits: PTFE is chemically resistant to almost everything but limited in temperature. Graphite withstands the high temperatures but is restricted with strongly oxidising media. This choice comes before the geometry – not after it.
For us gaskets are not a range in their own right but the complement to the valve: anyone ordering a butterfly valve, a globe valve or an expansion joint from us can have the matching flange gaskets supplied with it – matched to the flange standard, pressure rating and medium of the valve delivered. That saves separate procurement and the question of whether the gasket fits the bolt pattern.
