Replacement sieves & sieve inserts – retrofit also for other brands

Retrofit instead of buying a new one: If the filter body is still good, it is often enough to use it

In many systems, the filter housing is still in very good mechanical condition – only the filter insert / strainer insert is worn, deformed or can no longer be cleaned economically due to deposits. In precisely these cases, retrofitting is the clever solution: instead of procuring a complete new filter, a custom-fit replacement strainer insert is manufactured – quickly, economically and precisely tailored to the process.

The following expressly applies: Replacement strainers and strainer inserts are not only supplied for our own filters, but also for filters from other manufacturers – even after many years of operation.

For which filter types are replacement strainers / strainer inserts suitable?

Replacement and retrofit screen inserts are manufactured for the following systems, among others:

  • Strainers (e.g. Y-strainer / angled seat)
  • Simplex strainer (Simplex)
  • Basket strainer
  • as well as other variants/protective strainers according to application (e.g. conical strainers/flat plate strainers in the system start-up)

Typical process: How a custom-fit replacement strainer insert is made

To ensure that spare parts really do fit “plug & play”, the following procedure has proved successful:

  • Send template: Old filter, sample screen, sketch/drawing or photos with dimensions.
  • Design / adjustment: Geometry, installation heights, stops, sealing surfaces, fastening are checked and accepted.
  • Design according to process: design, perforation and mesh size are defined to suit the medium and degree of contamination.
  • Manufacture & delivery: The strainer insert is manufactured as a welded version and supplied as a spare part (also at short notice, depending on the version).

Technical options: Design, mesh size, gasket, accessories

1) Mesh size & filtration area

Depending on the application, mesh sizes from 50 µm to 10 mm are possible – for fine to coarse filtration.

2) Types & designs

  • Welded design for high stability
  • Pleated (folded) inserts to increase the filter surface area
  • Compatibility depending on the system, e.g. type A with O-ring gasket or type B with clamping bracket

3) Materials (stainless steel & special materials)

As standard, strainer inserts are manufactured in stainless steel 1.4301 / 1.4571 / 1.4401, for example; special materials can also be realized depending on the medium.

4) Typical size/pressure ranges

  • Ranges from DN 25 to DN 500 are common (others on request).
  • Nominal pressures such as PN 10 to PN 40 are supported (depending on the project).

5) Retrofitting: solenoid & differential pressure

An extension is useful for many applications, e.g:

  • Magnetic rods / magnetic cylinders for separating ferromagnetic particles (e.g. chips, magnetite).
  • Differential pressure display for status monitoring (filter change/cleaning according to actual load instead of calendar).
  • Depending on the system, modifications such as draining/venting are also possible.

Why retrofitting is often the better decision in practice

Retrofit means: The existing body remains in use, the wearing part is replaced. This typically results in

  • Cost optimization because the entire system does not have to be procured from scratch.
  • Faster re-availability, especially if original parts are no longer available (e.g. for old systems/third-party products).
  • Process optimization because mesh size/perforation and design can be adapted to current media conditions.

Checklist for quick quotation preparation

The following information will help you get a quick quote:

  • Filter type (e.g. strainers, simplex strainer, basket strainer)
  • DN / installation dimensions / design (photo + tape measure is often sufficient)
  • Medium, temperature, nominal pressure
  • Desired mesh size / perforation
  • Optional extras: e.g. magnetic rod/magnetic cylinder

Conclusion: Precisely fitting screen insert instead of completely new procurement

If the filter housing is still in good condition, a custom-made strainer insert is usually the quickest way back to stable filtration – even with other brands and even after many years.
