Cleaning without stopping production – why duplex strainers are real game changers
Filtration is important – downtime is expensive.
Filtration is indispensable in many industrial processes: it protects pumps, valves, heat exchangers and downstream system parts from particles and contamination. At the same time, unplanned system downtime is one of the most expensive scenarios in operation.
This is exactly where duplex strainers / duplex filters come in – and make the decisive difference.
Uninterrupted filtration through switchover operation
Duplex strainers consist of two filter chambers arranged in parallel. While one filter unit is in operation, the second can be cleaned or the strainer insert changed – without interrupting production.
The changeover is carried out using a manual or automated changeover device without interrupting the process.
The result:
- No interruption to production
- Constant media quality
- Higher system availability
Thanks to the modular design, all functional groups could be delivered prefabricated, tested and documented – including clearly defined interfaces for media, electrics and automation.
Developed and manufactured by Industriefabrik Schneider
Industriefabrik Schneider GmbH designs, develops and produces duplex strainers / duplex filters as industrial filters for demanding applications. The filters are designed for the filtration of liquid, viscous and gaseous media and reliably protect pipelines, pumps, containers and valves.
As an Armaturenfabrik, we supply these filters not only as individual components, but also on request:
- with matching surface-mounted fittings
- Integrated in system modules or SKID systems
- including automation and documentation.
What is possible – depending on the design?
The DF / IF-DF duplex strainers can be flexibly adapted to the respective application:
Manual or automated alternating operation
- Changeover via butterfly valves, 2-way or 3-way ball valves
- Optionally automated via pneumatic or electric actuators
Differential pressure monitoring
- Analog or digital differential pressure display
- Reliable information about the degree of contamination of the filter
Maintenance-friendly equipment
- Quick-release fasteners for tool-free opening
- Optional lifting and swivel devices for heavy filter covers
- Venting and draining connections integrated as standard
Typical areas of application
Duplex strainers are used wherever continuous processes and high availability are required, including in:
- Chemical and process industry
- Energy and power plants
- Water and wastewater technology
- Mechanical and plant engineering
- Oil and gas applications
They are available in steel or stainless steel, with nominal sizes from DN50 to DN300 and nominal pressures up to PN40 (other versions on request).
Conclusion: Filtration without downtime is not a luxury
Duplex strainers are not a special solution, but an economically sensible investment for all processes where downtime must be avoided. They combine process reliability, ease of maintenance and system availability in a compact, robust design.
